Adobe Reader preview thumbnails in Windows Explorer

There seems to be a bug that stops the previews of PDF files being displayed when viewing icons in Windows Explorer in Windows 7 (64 bit). After hunting the Internet for a few hours I finally found the solution which requires you to download and install a small piece of software.
